Comfort!

Comfort!

Comfort food is a reality; at least for me! Sometimes a good bowl of Macadamia ice cream makes wonders for my mood.

But I just realized there is a whole "line" of comfort things that can help me too: right now I am listening to much needed comfort music!

I had a really crappy night! My wallet - with Ids and plastics - was suddenly gone just hours away from am international flight. After filing reports at the police station and calling emergency services at my banks I ended up in bed at 3am to sleep for two hours. I slept three and almost lost my flight!

Now that I am peacefully seated in the airplane I started surfing my iPod for some music. But I wasn't in the mood for any of the twenty-somethings new albums I downloaded for this trip. I needed something old, something cozy, something that would bring me joy or just a good memory.

And it did! And I listen to it while I write this little post. It is my comfort music!

Music can touch us with words or just with it's rhythms, everyone knows that, right?

But comfort music takes us one step further, to a kind of familiar place. I am thankful for having my music with me. We should be thankful for the small things, right?

Funny thing is that my wallet was gone at the exact same moment I was telling a friend - I call him 'X' - that everything in life happens for a reason... And I still believe it does! I am just not sure what the reason is... Either if it is a karmic thing (the Universe gives you something but takes another one back) or just to teach me to be less stupid with my belongings, I take comfort (same word, not exactly the same meaning) imagining that whoever found it used the money inside to satiate their hunger, I don't know... Any feeling that makes it feel a less random of an act is fine! (randomness is not the best concept when you state that everything happens for a reason, right?) Anyway, my flight just landed. Music helped me through - but I still need to get some sleep.

I share this with my 'comfort people', my friends that are there for me when I need you guys!

Thank you and have a great week!
